Kyle & Alison's Wedding

I'm amazed at how detail oriented today's couples are. My mom used to coordinate the weddings at our church when I was little. She made coffee and tea, put out the nuts, butter mints and fanned the napkins out just like a pro. Alison and her talented mom went beyond that ten-fold. The ceremony and reception were held at The Canal in Ballard, and we started out with portraits next door at the Ballard Locks. The couple met on Halloween at a party. She was dressed as a bride; he was a big yellow bird! So keeping with their meeting of love at first site there was an aviary-ocean theme to the reception that started with being greeted at the door by a darling girl holding a basket of programs printed with flying birds. The guest book table was decorated with a beautiful cage of flowers and ornate birds, while each of the guest’s tables held a large flower covered nest with the table number dangling from a peacock feather. Guests found their place cards tucked into glassine enveloped nestled into miniature sandboxes among seashells, beach glass and Alison’s collection of glass floats she found while living in the tropics. Even the rings were presented sticking to the theme and delicately delivered in abalone shells, one lined in feathers of course. The details continued on with a gorgeous cake showered in petite flowers and two ocean blue birds. Alison wore her mother’s mantle veil, a stunning gown and carried white flowers while her bride’s maids dressed in shimmering blue and carried bright green flowers wrapped in tropical leaves. While almost every bride has delicate nerves just before she walks down the aisle, Alison most likely had more on her mind that all those other girls. She sang to her groom during the ceremony and brought tears to many guests’ eyes (look at the picture below and check out the ring bearer!) . This was truly an affair to remember and I’m sure a dream come true. Congratulations you two!
